The 2019 Europump Annual Meeting took place in Napoli, Italy, from 23 to 25 May, at the invitation of our Italian Member Assopompe.
The Annual Meeting included the General Assembly, during which Sönke Brodersen, Global Executive Officer Committees and Associations at KSB, was elected President following Martin van den Born, Vanni Vignoli, Corporate Marketing Manager at Caprari, was appointed First Vice President and Lubos Michlik, Sales Director, SIGMA Group, was designated Second Vice-President. New members of the Executive Board were also elected.
The Annual Meeting offered an opportunity for all members and participants to review the activities of the Association, notably its four Commissions (Standards, Technical, Marketing and SMEs). A large part of the Commissions work focuses on following up EU legislative initiatives, principally in the areas of Eco-design (circulators, electric motors, and water and waste water pumps), water policy (preparation of new Drinking Water Regulation), Product Environment Footprint, and Lead-related legislation.
Other features of this Annual event included :
- The presentation of the 2019 Global Pump Markets Report, prepared by Oxford Economics for both Europump and the Hydraulic Institute, which was subsequently distributed to the members,
- A presentation the European waste and recycling policies by ERP Ireland DAC
- A conference on the EU and National legislation on materials in contact with drinking water, and a panel discussion on “One certification, one test, throughout Europe”
The Annual Meeting was very well attended and provided opportunities for fruitful discussion between the National Associations Secretaries, for excellent networking opportunities at venues particularly well picked-up by Assopompe, for a good exchange of views between Europump and the Hydraulic Institute, which came with a strong delegation led by its Board Chairman.
It was also the occasion to pay tribute to Europumps’ former President Carlo Banfi, who had served the Association in various functions since 1991 and was the headmaster of this Annual Meeting, and to thank its Council Member Svend Aage Kaae, who was retiring.
