At the Annual Meeting in early May 2015 in Dresden, Germany, Europump presented its annual awards. This time the ceremony took place in the splendid ‘Kleiner Schlosshof‘ at the old Royal Palace. Mr Carlo Banfi, Europump President, told his audience how grateful Europump was as he handed official awards to eleven delegates in recognition of their contributions.
A very special wooden plaquette was handed to Mr Guy Van Doorslaer. Mr Banfi said his service as Secretary General over the past 25 years had provided an excellent example of how important it is to be at the centre of the association at all times. Mr Van Doorslaer now runs his own management consultancy based in Mechelen, Belgium.
The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), taking place from 9 – 12 November 2015 at ADNEC, is the world’s new meeting point for Oil & Gas professionals. Held in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, ADIPEC situates itself in one of the world’s most influential energy hubs of the 21st century.
Europump is an official media partner of ADIPEC 2015. With its endorsement, among other things a special discount is given to any interested members of Europump who wish to attend the conference.
This year’s edition of ADIPEC is set to be bigger than ever before, providing an excellent combination to network and do business with a record breaking number of companies and national trade associations exhibiting their latest products and innovations. The conference programme is one of the biggest in the world based on 2,278 submitted abstracts from 540 companies across 65 countries. A novelty this year is the offshore and marine exhibition hall displaying water front exhibitions.

Past President Carlo Banfi and President Kutlu Karavelioglu
During its Annual Meeting 2015 on 9 May, Europump members elected Mr Kutlu Karavelioğlu as new President. The three-day congress was hosted by VDMA Pumps and Systems in Dresden, Germany.
Mr Karavelioğlu has been deputy chairman of the SMS and Layne Bowler pump, valve and DI pipe companies since 1990. He is also a long-standing member of the Europump Executive Council on behalf of the Turkish Pump and Valve Manufacturers' Association. In his acceptance speech, Mr Karavelioğlu recalled the positive feelings and the assurance of deeply laid foundations from the many past Europump meetings, and said he was looking forward to protecting the values of Europump, and to add more.
The General Assembly also endorsed the changeover of Secretary General from Mr Guy Van Doorslaer to Mr Thijs de Wolff. Mr Van Doorslaer, now retired, received special recognition for his 25 years of outstanding service to Europump from 1991 to 2015.
