Assopompe & Europump present: Ecodesign requirements for pumps

On March 21st, at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2014, ASSOPOMPE, the Italian Pump Manufacturers Association, in cooperation with EUROPUMP, the European Association of Pump Manufacturers, organizes a conference of particular relevance for the sector:

Which requirements are imposed today by the European Commission and which ones in the near future?

Focus on ErP, Extended Product Approach and Pump System Energy Assessment.

The European Commission has for many years been working on projects to improve the energy efficiency in pumps and pumping systems in accordance with Energy Related Products (ErP) Directive 2009/125/EC (former EuP Directive 2005/32/EC).
Ecodesign requirements are imposed since 1st January 2013 on clean water pumps and circulating pumps (Lot 11). New studies are currently ongoing with regards to waste water pumps and other clean water pumps (Lot 28 & 29) in view of new future regulations in this sector.
A new approach is going to be adopted into new regulations by the European Commission: the Extended Product Approach (focusing on the energy efficiency of the components within a pump system, comprising of pump, motor and controls).
In 2012 the introduction of the Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU) imposed on all Member States the requirement to carry out energy audits in Buildings and Industrial Processes. This Directive will mandate a requirement to carry out an evaluation of the entire pumping system process (system energy assessment). It is believed that this approach will offer even more significant energy savings.
We will discuss all of these issues with experts from EUROPUMP, who are working in close contact with the European Commission to ensure the achievement of energy saving targets in a sustainable manner for users and manufacturers.
